Shawano (pronounced SHAW-no) is a city inShawano County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,305 at the 2010 census. It is the county seatof Shawano County.
This City is home to the Wolf River, and Shawano Lake is located just at the edge of city limits.These waterways provide excellent opportunities for residents and visitors alike to participate in various water related activities. The City of Shawano is a growing community located 40 miles west of the Green Bay area in northeastern Wisconsin. With a population of 9,200 residents, the City offers excellent schools, 24 parks, miles of hiking and biking trails, safe neighborhoods, healthy economic growth, and a reemerging downtown.
Shawano is home to an excellent public and private school system. Northeast Wisconsin Technical College also has a Regional Learning Center located in Shawano and the College of Menominee Nation is located just north of Shawano and provides academic degrees in select baccalaureate and associate degree programs; diplomas in technical and trades areas; and a variety of continuing education options.
Shawano is located at44°46′36″N88°36′7″W(44.776612, -88.602054).[9] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.67 square miles, of which, 6.57 square miles is land and 0.10 square miles is water.[10]
